We are Confessional Calvinists and a Prayer Book Church-people. In 2012, we remembered the 350th anniversary of the 1662 Book of Common Prayer; also, we remembered the 450th anniversary of John Jewel's sober, scholarly, and Reformed "An Apology of the Church of England." In 2013, we remembered the publication of the "Heidelberg Catechism" and the influence of Reformed theologians in England, including Heinrich Bullinger's Decades. For 2014: Tyndale's NT translation. For 2015, John Roger, Rowland Taylor and Bishop John Hooper's martyrdom, burned at the stakes. Books of the month. The Right Reverend Daniel Sandford (1766 – 14 January 1830) was Bishop of Edinburgh from 1806 until 1830.

Background


Sandford was born in 1766 at Delville, near Dublin, Ireland, the son of Reverend Daniel Sandford and Sarah Chapone.

Career


At Edinburgh, in 1792, he became minister of a Qualified Episcopal congregation for whom the Charlotte Chapel, Edinburghwas built in 1797. He graduated from Oxford University in 1802 with a Doctor of Divinity (D.D). He joined the Episcopal Church of Scotland in 1803, and was ordained bishop of Edinburgh in 1806.[1]

Family


Sandford married Helen Frances Catherine Douglas, on 11 October 1790. They had seven children, including:[2]


Sandford died on 14 January 1830 at Edinburgh.[2]
